What are the advantages of using Recycled Cotton Yarn?

Benefits

  1. Recycled cotton can be repurposed into many different low-grade products, such as insulation, mop heads, rags, and stuffing.

  2. The recycling process can divert many products from landfills. According to the European Textile Recycling Council, annual textile waste is estimated to equal 25 billion pounds.

  3. The amount of energy, water and dye usage is reduced from the use of a product that has already been processed. Savings are achieved by balancing the production of new materials. Because recycled cotton yarns are most commonly obtained from pre-consumer textile scraps sorted by color, the yarns have already been dyed.

  4. CO 2 and fossil fuel emissions savings can be partially offset by the use of existing materials. However, the collection, processing, and transportation of cotton scraps or clothing may reduce or neutralize some of these savings.
